Listen to deer belling in the Amsterdam Water Supply Dunes on a guided game walk, discover exhibitions in Museum Zandvoort or warm up at one of the beach pavilions overlooking the sea. If you want to experience something special, hike one of the autumn walking routes or enjoy events in the village during the autumn holidays.
The rut was hugely impressive
With our guide, we walked into the dunes in search of deer. We didn’t have to look far, because they were right there at the entrance, next to the path. It was clear that it was rutting season. We regularly heard the deer bellowing, or ‘grunting’ as the guide explained. After walking off the paths for about 30 minutes, we came to a place where the deer were gathering. It was really cool to hear the animals, see them hunting and even see them fighting! The sound of their antlers clashing was incredibly impressive.

The dunes are full of mushrooms, deer are barking in the Amsterdam Water Supply Dunes and in the village you will find warm indoor spots to recharge your batteries. Wisentenroute
The Kraansvlak is one of the few areas in the Netherlands where the Wisent lives. These European Bisons can have a back height of up to 2 meters high and are therefore incredibly impressive to see. They are wild animals so keep your distance.

Rondom het Kraansvlak
This route takes you through the beautiful nature around Zandvoort. In Zandvoort you drive via Bentveld into the dunes towards the forests of Koningshof and Elswout. Along the Zeeweg you drive towards Bloemendaal aan Zee. Via the Duinpieperpad you drive through the dunes back to Zandvoort.

Bunkerwandeling
In the Amsterdam Water Supply Dunes there are many bunkers, about 400. This route runs along several bunkers. They were built by Germany during the Second World War and are part of the Atlantic Wall.

De Stinkende Emmer fietsroute
Zandvoort is originally a fishing village. Where the men got the fish from the sea, the women (mostly) walked to Haarlem with a heavy basket full of fish. Here they traded them in the fish halls. With the Stinkende Emmer route you follow in the footsteps of these fishmongers.

Rondje Vogelenmeer en Kraansvlak
This walk has almost everything you can find in National Park Zuid-Kennemerland: beach, dunes, diversity and with a bit of luck also Wisents. A beautiful walk from Zandvoort along the unique Vogelenmeer and the Wisent lookout point.

The Stinking Bucket
Zandvoort is originally a fishing village. While the men fetched the fish from the sea, the women (mostly) walked to Haarlem with a heavy basket full of fish. Here they traded them in the fish halls. With The Stinking Bucket Route, you follow in the footsteps of these fishwalkers.
