Getting to Zandvoort

Zandvoort is easily accessible all year round. With two access roads and a direct train connection to Amsterdam, Zandvoort is a great place to visit! Yes, on a beautiful summer weekend day there may be a traffic jam heading to the beach. But those days are the exception rather than the rule.

Easily accessible by public transport

Zandvoort is one of the most famous beaches in the Netherlands and during a visit you will be amazed by the diversity in this place. For where can you find a wide sandy beach with trendy beach pavilions, a Formula 1 circuit, large nature parks including fallow deer and wisents and an authentic fishing village so close together? Its own railway station at walking distance from the beach with a direct connection to Amsterdam and Haarlem makes a visit to Zandvoort very easy. The 2 access roads, several cycle paths and direct bus connection to Haarlem and Amsterdam also ensure good accessibility.

Accessibility by train

There are more good reasons to just hop on the train. Zandvoort is the only seaside resort with its own train station. It is only 25 minutes from Amsterdam to Zandvoort, from Haarlem even only 15 minutes. You have no hassle with parking or possible crowds on the road. And the station is only 200 metres from the beach, so you’ll have your feet in the sand within 5 minutes!

With the bus

Prefer to go by bus? There are two regional bus routes to Zandvoort. From Haarlem Central station, bus 81 will get you to Zandvoort in about 30 minutes and bus 80 from Amsterdam, stop Marnixstraat, will take just under an hour. The international Flixbus connects Zandvoort via Haarlem with, for example, the German cities of Osnabrück and Berlin. This line does not run daily, but is specially tailored to the tourist season.

With the bike

Even on a bicycle, Zandvoort is very easy to do from the area. From Noordwijk, you ride along the Waterleidingduinen to Zandvoort. From the direction of Haarlem and Bloemendaal, you have the choice of cycling through the National Park, along the Zeeweg or along the Visserspad. you can also reach Zandvoort from Haarlem through Heemstede and Aerdenhout along the Waterleidingduinen. In the area, there are fine wide cycle paths in an extensive junction network that also take you straight to the beautiful cycle routes in Zandvoort.

With the car

If you do come by car, Zandvoort has two access roads. The N201 via Haarlem Zuid, Heemstede and Aerdenhout where, even before you enter Zandvoort, you will have spotted a fallow deer. And the Zeeweg via Haarlem, Overveen and Bloemendaal where you enter Zandvoort for a beautiful stretch through the dunes and along the sea. There is plenty of parking space.

Amsterdam & Region Day Ticket

The Amsterdam & Region Travel Ticket is a special ticket for public transport, valid on metros, trams and buses of GVB, Connexxion and EBS. So you can use it to travel from Zandvoort to Haarlem and Amsterdam and use public transport there too. This OV Chipkaart for tourists is available in a 1, 2 and 3 day variant. Super convenient for when you want to explore the region too.

Traffic information

Traffic jam information about Zandvoort is sometimes useful, as the roads to the beach can be quite busy in summer. But this is only the case on a handful of days. With the exception of extremely hot days, Zandvoort is perfectly accessible.

Circuit accessibility

The accessibility of the circuit is excellent. As the only circuit in the world, Circuit Zandvoort is 10 minutes’ walk from an NS railway station. There is plenty of parking space on site and it is also easy to park your bike.
