Being busy in and on the water is a fun way to enjoy the sun and water during a holiday on the Dutch coast. Whether you are looking for a relaxing day on the beach or a more active challenge, there is something for everyone.
For those looking for a more intense experience, there are also a number of companies in Zandvoort that offer professional guidance and equipment for activities such as diving, kayaking and stand-up paddling. These activities are suitable for both beginners and experienced athletes, and different levels of intensity are often available to suit the wants and needs of participants.
When the wind is favourable, I can be found on the beach kiting. Three years ago, I learnt to kitesurf on holiday. I now have all my own equipment. Kitesurfing is cool to do. Especially because I can jump high, then it’s like flying for a moment! Learn it yourself at one of the surf schools!

Have you always wanted to surf waves? Be able to conquer high waves and enjoy the power of the sea on a sailless board? Would you like to experience the adrenaline of kite surfing or master paddling? No need to travel to a faraway place for that, as it is all possible on Zandvoort beach. There are many recognised surf schools here to learn different water sports or to hire equipment so you can get started yourself.
If you can already wave surf, kite or supp, but do not have your own gear at hand, you can always rent equipment. The various surf schools on Zandvoort beach have wetsuits and boards for hire. If you prefer to use your own equipment, you can also store it in one of the lockers.
The surf schools are spread across Zandvoort’s almost 7 kilometres of beach, and each school has its own atmosphere. Most are open from April to September. They are often located near a cosy beach tent so you can have a drink afterwards or warm up. Most have all facilities right on the beach, such as lockers, toilets, showers, changing rooms, as well as equipment and wetsuit rental and storage facilities for your boards.
