Kitesurfing is perhaps one of the coolest sports on the water and gives a huge kick! Imagine surfing across the water with the wind in your hair. Not to mention the immensely high jumps you can make! Zandvoort’s beaches are ideal for letting the wind pull you forward and get your dose of adrenaline. And even if kitesurfing isn’t for you, you’ll still feast your eyes.
At Strandpaviljoen Bodhi Beach on Zandvoort’s south beach, you will find North Sea Watersports, the place to be if you want to learn to kitesurf. Here you can learn to kite in a group, in pairs or individually. Thanks to direct radio communication with your instructor, you get immediate feedback and instructions while on the water. As a result, you will learn to kitesurf up to 3 times faster! Whether you are 8 years old or 80: you will master kiting in no time. And apart from kitesurfing, other water sports are not missing from the offer. So if kite is too fast for you, you can always book a surf or sup lesson.
Centre located on the Zandvoort beach is Zandvoort’s water sports centre: The Spot. From the end of April to the end of September, you can learn to kitesurf here. And you can do so from the age of 11! Because although it seems difficult, kitesurfing is the easiest form of surfing. During the lessons, you will learn to control the kite, make your first water start and make your first metres on a board. And of course you will learn the necessary safety skills and gain knowledge of the wind, the equipment, the sea and your surroundings. If you can already surf, supp or kite but don’t have your own equipment, you can rent equipment at The Spot.

Kiteboarding is one of the latest developments in water sports. It is similar to regular kitesurfing, except that under your board is a long fin. Go to Zandvoort in a good wind and you will see a sea full of kitesurfers making the highest jumps. Whereas for normal kiting you need sufficient wind, you can also kitefoil with little wind. Because of the speed, the fin pushes you upwards, giving you less resistance. So a little wind is enough to make airtime. Try it yourself! In addition to surfing, supping and kitesurfing, you can also take a lesson in wingfoiling and kitefoiling at The Spot Water Sports Centre.
The North Sea off Zandvoort is ideal for surfing. There are no metre-high waves, but the surf and current is perfect for an ideal day of surfing. And certainly for learning to surf. At the various water sports schools in Zandvoort, you can book a surfing lesson and take your first steps on the water. So if kitesurfing is too fast for you, if it still seems a bit too exciting or if you just want to go surfing, book a surfing lesson.
Supping is not only reserved for calm inland waters such as a lake or canal. You can also paddle in the sea. Of course, there does not have to be a strong wind, and there is always some wave action, but once through the surf you can paddle across the sea in a wonderfully relaxed way. How about a sunset suples at the end of a hot beach day? Sounds good right?
