Bunker route Amsterdam Waterleidingduinen - 5 km

There are many bunkers in the Amsterdam Water Supply Dunes, around 400. This route passes several bunkers. Some are well hidden and are a home for bats, while others are easy to admire. They were built by Germany in WWII and part of the Atlantic Wall. This was a huge defence line from Norway to the Pyrenees, built to prevent an Allied invasion.

Highlights: the bunker village and the beautiful views of the peaks of Tonneblink, Appelenberg and Rozenberg.

Starting point: Amsterdamse Waterleidingsduinen, entrance Zandvoortselaan.

Wisents in National Park in Zandvoort View the route

Wisentenpad - 7 km

During this unique walk across the dune tops of the Kraansvlak in Zuid-Kennemerland National Park, with a bit of luck you will come face to face with a herd of primeval cattle. The wisents, also known as the European relatives of the bison, are Europe’s largest land mammals! Very impressive animals indeed.

Highlights: definitely the wisents, the varied landscape and the many other animals that live here. Such as the Scottish Highlanders, konik horses, fallow deer and rabbits.

Starting point: Entrance North Dunes.
Duration: approx. 2 hours.

Please note! The wisentenpad is closed during the breeding and calving season, from March to August.

Green route Amsterdam Waterleidingduinen - 6.7 km

This route first goes through a forest section. The smell of pine trees meets you. It is like being in the shower with a lovely pine scent as shower gel. You immediately feel fitter and fresher. Then the landscape changes and you walk through an open dune landscape to the Renbaanveld. Once a horse racing track and now a beautiful pond. A favourite with many waterbirds and with great views!

Highlights: the lovely aroma of conifers, the wide-open dunes and the splashing water birds.

Starting point: Amsterdamse Waterleidingsduinen, entrance Zandvoortselaan.

Beach walk towards Noordwijk - 12 km

Across the wide sandy beach to the Noordvoort beach reserve

Fancy a brisk walk along the beach? Set course for Noordwijk. Highly recommended! On the way, you pass through Noordvoort beach reserve, a quiet stretch of beach between posts 70 and 73. A unique resting area on the beach where you have to follow a 3 km long sea path along the top. There are three beautiful viewpoints where you can even spot seals.

Highlights: the peace, the sound of the sea, the fresh air and the viewpoints on the zeereep path. Namasté!

Sloppies Zandvoort View the route

Sloppies walk - 2km

In the centre of Zandvoort, there are still plenty of traces from the fishing era. You can take a lovely stroll through the small streets behind the beach, called ‘sloppies’. Besides old fishermen’s cottages, you will also come across beautiful white and sand-coloured villas. With bay windows, battlements, verandas and names like Land’s End, Hendrika and Zeezicht. After the walk, it is pleasant to linger on one of the many terraces in the village.

Highlights: Zandvoort’s smallest fisherman’s house in Rozenobelstraat, the Gasthuishofje, a hidden gem and the station building which is a national monument.
