That Which Remains Afloat
For this edition, artist Marianne Lammersen presents the installation That Which Remains Afloat , a new sculptural work in which she reflects on the transition between the Belle Époque and the Reconstruction period in Zandvoort. In this historic transitional period, she explores how elegance, loss, and restoration coexist and how these traces are still palpable today.
Using contrasting materials such as glass, concrete, and steel, Lammersen questions ideas about progress and economic growth. Her investigative and poetic visual language connects personal imagination with collective history. Within Sculpture Now!, her work is given a central place on a three-by-three-meter platform in the middle of the museum collection. There, a dialogue emerges between the installation, the history of Zandvoort, and the ongoing changes within the village. The work balances harmony and chaos, inviting visitors to slow down, reflect, and become aware within a landscape and community that are constantly in motion.
About Marianne Lammersen
Marianne Lammersen (Nijland, 1984) is a Dutch artist who grew up in the countryside, a background that has strongly shaped her view of the urban environment. In her work, she explores the tension between nature and the human-constructed world. She creates collages, objects, and installations in which themes such as growth, order, and chaos take center stage.
The exhibition is on view from June 6 to October 11, 2026 .
