During the Madonnari Chalk Art Festival, a square in Zandvoort transforms into a temporary work of art. Professional chalk artists and illustrators of all ages collaborate on large drawings on the ground. It’s an accessible activity for residents and visitors who want to learn about chalk art and enjoy creative activities together.
The Madonnari Chalk Art Festival is inspired by the Italian tradition of street artists using chalk to create temporary artworks in public spaces. On a square adjacent to the former Holland Casino, professional artists and amateur artists collaborate to create a colorful display. Under the guidance of Zandvoort artist Donna Corbani, a large concrete square is constructed from individual tiles, which together form a single artwork. The theme reflects Zandvoort’s reputation as a seaside resort. Participation is open to all ages, with plenty of room for children and spontaneous participants.
