Beach walk on the Dutch coast
Sand underfoot, wind through the hair, gazing out over the sea. You can take the most beautiful beach walks along the Dutch North Sea coast in Zandvoort.

Start in the north and walk all the way to the south, or vice versa of course. If you feel like a brisk walk, try walking from Zandvoort up via Bloemendaal to IJmuiden, or with the sea on your right hand to Noordwijk or Katwijk. Be guided by the direction of the wind. With the wind at your back and the sun on your face, or against the wind: clear your head. Nothing is as refreshing as walking on the beach.
Got cold hands and feet? On Zandvoort beach, you can always find somewhere to sit by a fireplace with a drink. Beach bars are open all year round: in fact, Zandvoort has five year-round pavilions. And once the sun is shining in full and the season starts in March, the choice of terraces is endless with no fewer than 35 beach pavilions!
Your best friend on all fours will probably wag his tail at the very mention of the word ‘beach walk’. He is right: running and raging together is best done in the Zandvoort surf. Since the dog probably doesn’t understand the rules, we will tell you just to be sure.
Walking together is cozier than walking alone. Of course, you can always get all your friends or family together, but once a year a gigantic collective beach walk is organised: the 30 of Zandvoort. A wonderful walk you really must have done once. During the sporting weekend at the end of March in which the Circuit Run is also held, both seasoned walkers and novice running enthusiasts can participate with distances of 30 or 18 kilometres. The route starts at the race circuit and runs via the vast beach deep into the wild nature of National Park Zuid-Kennemerland.
