New Year’s dive Zandvoort

Want to start the new year fresh? Then come to the fun New Year’s Dive in Zandvoort. On 1 January, you can jump into the cold water with thousands of visitors. Did you know that Zandvoort is the oldest dive in the Netherlands? Back in 1960, Ok van Batenburg and a group of swimmers from Njord ’59 from Haarlem started this tradition here.

Overnight stay with New Year

Experience an unforgettable New Year’s Eve in Zandvoort and start the new year fresh with the traditional New Year’s Dive! Stay overnight in a luxury hotel, a cosy B&B or a cosy holiday home and enjoy the festive atmosphere by the sea. After an evening of fireworks, champagne and fun, what better way to start the new year than a refreshing dip in the North Sea. Feel the adrenaline, surrounded by hundreds of other daredevils, and then warm up with a cup of steaming chocolate milk.

Nice music during the warm-up

Before jumping into the water, there is a special warm-up with nice music. You then take off your clothes and, as soon as the starting signal is given, run towards the sea with thousands of others for a refreshing dive. Afterwards, dry off quickly and put your clothes on as there are no showers. There are no changing facilities or showers, so make sure you have your swimwear on. Above all, bring a nice thick towel, bathrobe or jogging trousers!

It's busy please arrive on time

If you come by car, you can easily park on P – De Zuid of in the LDC-parking garage. It is advisable to arrive on time as there are many participants for the New Year’s Dive. If you come by train, it is about a 5-minute walk from the station. Please note that there will be a modified timetable for both buses and trains due to New Year’s Day.

Changing clothes on the beach

This chilly start to the year is a bit Spartan, as there are no showers or changing rooms on the beach. That means: quickly put on your warm bathrobe and hat after that icy dip.

Safety

The New Year’s dive is at your own risk. However, the Rescue Brigade and the Red Cross are present during the dive. Always take a dive with at least two people to keep an eye on each other.
