The Wisent Trail in Kraansvlak is open from September 1st to March 1st. This three-kilometer walking route leads right through the habitat of the European bison (also known as the European bison). Kraansvlak is an enclosed dune area within Zuid-Kennemerland National Park, where nature development has created a rich landscape of dunes, grasslands, and shrubs. Always maintain a safe distance, as these animals are wild. Dogs are not permitted, and the trail is not suitable for strollers or people with limited mobility.
The Bison Route follows the Bison Trail and is nine kilometers long. It’s a wonderful walk to explore the nature reserve in depth and perhaps even come face to face with the impressive European bison.
