In the Juttersmu-ZEE-um you can see a collection of items found on the beach.
Anyone can beachcomb, but true beachcombers get up early in the morning to check what’s washed ashore from the sea or left behind on the beach. Especially after a heavy storm, this can be a huge amount! Buoys, fishing nets, perfume, lighters, old bones, whole and half dolls, old war materials, shoes, toys, glasses, messages in bottles, the remains of ships or airplanes, a piece of metal from a NASA rocket—you name it! Much of what floats in the sea ends up on the beach.
Some of the items that have washed ashore at Zandvoort can be found in the Juttersmu-ZEE-um. Here you can see what the sea has to offer! Everything has its own story and tells the story of beachcombing, fishing, nature, and the history of Zandvoort.
