Zandvoort in autumn is the ideal place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Come along and enjoy nature and the beautiful Dutch sea.
At Boulevard Barnaart 65, you walk straight into (almost) unspoilt nature. You follow wooden posts with yellow edges and walk along narrow sandy paths through loose sand towards Kraansvlak. This yellow route takes you to several dune tops from where you have a great view of the natural surroundings. And while the route is worth a hike in itself, there is something else that makes the hike extra special: the Kraansvlak is bison territory. This European cousin of the American bison can grow up to 1.80 metres tall and weigh 600 kg. An impressive spectacle!
The Kennemer Dunes are a national park for a reason. With their marvellous shifting sand dunes and wide variety of wildlife, they are a unique area and a wonderful place to relax. The entrance on the Zeeweg provides an ideal introduction to the area. Here you will find information about the animals and plants and can visit the free exhibitions. Order a drink in the dune café while the children play in the neighbouring playground. There is easy parking (for a fee), which also makes the visitor centre a good starting point for beautiful walks and bike rides.
Zandvoort has a rich history. You will not only find it in the village, but also in the surrounding nature. Scattered in the dunes of Zandvoort, you can find remnants from the Second World War and immerse yourself in the past. Hidden in nature, there are still numerous bunkers, some of which you can also see from the inside. So you can experience for yourself what it was like to crawl through the bunkers of the Atlantic Wall. But be careful, because bats could also be hiding in them.
Dive into the wave pool, go faster than fast in the slide and let yourself be “carried away” by the rapids in the white water rides. Aqua Mundo is a great day out for the whole family.
Restaurant ‘Gestrand’, at camping de Lakens, is an incredibly delicious restaurant where you can let your children loose.
A fight against time. Will you find all the clues and solve the puzzle in time? In the Escape World Zandvoort you can choose from 3 different rooms, each with its own story.
