Zandvoort: The Village
The charming and authentic village of Zandvoort is just the perfect size. The shopping streets offer fun shopping in beautiful shoe stores, trendy boutiques and cool clothing shops. For a great cappuccino or tasty lunch, find a terrace on the Kerkplein or Raadhuisstraat. In addition to the large supermarkets, Zandvoort also has traditional shops selling cheese, wine, chocolate and tea.
Historic town centre
For the most special architecture, check out Circus Zandvoort. This entertainment building with a cinema, casino and arcade is an eye catching design by architect Sjoerd Soeters. On the other side of the charming Gasthuisplein is the Zandvoorts Museum, which also houses the Tourist Information shop. The museum is the focal point for art and history in Zandvoort, showing both permanent and temporary exhibitions. The Tourist Information is the place to go for any question about Zandvoort and the surrounding area. The village still has many reminders from the fishing days. The narrow old streets behind the beach, called ‘sloppies’, are perfect for exploring. You'll not only see the little fisherman's cottages, but also the grand white and sand colored villas with their bay windows, battlements and verandas, and names like Land's End and Zeezicht, sea view.
Haven't yet decided on what to eat tonight? You'll have plenty of choice in the village. From a pizzeria, Greek and snack bar to a bistro or fish restaurant. And don't forget to keep an eye on our event calendar because there is always something happening in the village, especially in summer. You might just see a parade of historic racing cars pass by, or stumble into a cool performance on one of the stages during Pride at the Beach!
