For almost all my life I have been at home in Zandvoort; my roots are in this village. Despite a few short trips, I have always returned to this place. Here in Zandvoort, I have made countless beautiful memories over the years. What makes living in this village so special is the fresh air, the beach and dunes so close by. I enjoy the openness and proximity to the sea every day.
As a family counsellor, I counsel relatives of people with addiction problems. My practice is here in Zandvoort. The most rewarding aspect of my work is breaking the taboo around addiction and offering help to families who have become entangled in it. I also work several days a week as a therapist in Brabant. No moment can match the evenings when, after work, I drive home via the Zeeweg and see the sea coming through between the dunes!
"The fresh air, beach and dunes so close by is what makes Zandvoort special."
My Zandvoort tips
One of my favourite places in the village is the Noble Tree Cafe, where I often meet up with friends. They serve good coffee and the atmosphere is cosy. Moreover, you can enjoy a beautiful view of our village centre there. Another recommendation in the centre of Zandvoort is Brazee, on the Kerkplein. Here you can enjoy the ‘Steak on the Rock’, a delicious steak served at the table on a hot stone. I also frequent Soleil, a shop on Raadhuisplein with a great selection of local and natural products. They offer a wide range of health products and naturopathic herbs, vitamins and minerals. By the sea, I like De Haven van Zandvoort. This beach club is centrally located on the promenade and offers cosy seating by the crackling fire.
