‘My monument is your monument’
During Open Monument Days on 11 and 12 September 2021 Zandvoort opens its doors to beautiful cultural-historical buildings. Come and take a look in special buildings that are normally not open to the public.
A number of activities are planned for both days. The theme 'My monument is your monument' is central. The emphasis is on the experience and the story behind each monument.
The aim of the organisation is to increase public interest in the heritage of the Netherlands. The activities are increasingly aimed at children and young people, mainly in order to stimulate the appreciation of monuments at an early age and to ensure the preservation of heritage in the future.
“Hear ye, hear ye”
The working group made a walk along special monuments through the old centre of Zandvoort. A number of historical monuments are highlighted. The main focus is on the NS railway station and the striking town hall is also on the programme. In the Raadhuis there is a Pop Up museum, with one of the rooms showing the history of the Raadhuis and the timeline of all the mayors of Zandvoort. The Council Chamber and the small B&W room will also be open to the public during the weekend.
The Zandvoort Museum is the starting point of the walk. There you will receive the booklet with a walking route and background information. This information is also available digitally. The two churches in Zandvoort are open. In the St. Agatha church there is a summer exhibition of paintings by Ronald van der Mije and sculptures by Clementine van Polvliet.
