The Special Olympics National Games are the largest multi-sport event for people with intellectual disabilities in the Netherlands. The event takes place once every two years. On June 12, 13, and 14, 2026, more than 3,000 athletes will compete against each other in 20 sports disciplines in Haarlem and the surrounding area.

Three sports take place in Zandvoort: triathlon , golf , and running . The triathlon and running are organized on and around Circuit Zandvoort , where participants use the race track in the dunes. Golf takes place at Golfclub The Dunes , in the Zandvoort dune area.

One of the highlights is the opening ceremony at the Haarlem Ice Rink, where thousands of people gather for the start of the event.

The Games have a major impact: they contribute to greater inclusion in society and give athletes a platform to show what they can do.
