Nilgün Yerli
Later when I’m dead
Nilgün Yerli is a writer, comedian, and program maker. She was born in Turkey and came to the Netherlands at the age of ten. After growing up in Heerenveen and later Amsterdam, she currently lives in Bentveld. Her strong ties to the region are also reflected in her role as ambassador for Theater De Krocht. That’s one of the reasons she’s bringing her show ” Later als ik dood ben” (Later when I’m dead) to the Zandvoort theater.
About the performance
In Later When I’m Dead, Nilgün Yerli explores her own life motto:
“Fly without fear and make your dreams come true.”
The performance revolves around the concept of “later.” Dreams postponed, plans pushed forward, and thoughts stored for a time yet to come. This begins in childhood with phrases like: “You’ll understand that later” or “Later, when you grow up, you’ll think differently about this.”
But all that later inevitably comes to an end. And that’s precisely what we’d rather not dwell on, because life is already full enough of everything that still has to happen, can happen, and will happen. Nilgün Yerli poses poignant questions: what truly matters and what doesn’t? What are we waiting for, and why?
With humor, sharpness, and personal stories, she invites the audience to reflect on the present. A cabaret performance that encourages reflection, evokes recognition, and simultaneously leaves room for perspective and a smile.
