Neo-fanfare 9×13 – The musical start of every festival day
Each day of Festival VLOED begins in the most festive way imaginable: with a theatrical opening parade through the streets of Zandvoort. Neo-fanfare 9×13 heralds the start of VLOED with their unique street performance, Parade, in a musical and theatrical way.
What is Parade?
The parade starts at Raadhuisplein , in the heart of Zandvoort, and moves towards Badhuisplein . Along the way, the brass band winds through the streets, and the musicians surprise the crowd with short performances in unexpected locations. Passersby walk along, remain standing, or spontaneously join the procession.
At the end of the route, a regional amateur orchestra of no fewer than 50 musicians will be ready at Badhuisplein to celebrate the start of the festival day together with 9×13.
9×13 plays with the boundaries between backstage and frontstage, between preparation and performance, between expectation and reality. Parade is a theatrical fanfare that moves and surprises. A performance that doesn’t break down tradition, but rather breaks it open—one that overturns the familiar and invites the audience to see and participate anew.

Neo-fanfare 9×13 consists of 10 professional musicians who present contemporary music in a theatrical setting. The ensemble effortlessly performs new works from memory in unique settings—whether on the boulevard, in the heart of the city, or at a festival. In this way, they bring innovative classical music to a wide audience in an accessible and surprising way.
