In 2025, the Genootschap Oud Zandvoort (Old Zandvoort Society), the Zandvoort Museum, the North Holland Archives, and several Zandvoort residents conducted extensive historical research into these early days. This research, led by renowned historian of Dutch bathing culture Koen Marijt, has led to many new insights and discoveries.
Attention is paid to the important role of the lords of the manor and Zandvoort during the Patriot Era, the Batavian Republic, and the French Era. The most important period covered is the period from 1825 to 1828. Five notables then took the initiative to build the road from Haarlem to Zandvoort and construct a bathhouse. The book provides insight into the motivations of these initiators and the consequences of their plans for Zandvoort.
The book will be presented on January 30th at the Zandvoort Museum and will be available exclusively for purchase there from then on.
